WhatsApp

Capital Whisky Club uses WhatsApp for all official communications and members’ chats.

Once you are added to the “Capital Whisky Club 🥃 CWC” community, you can access it from the “Communities” button at the bottom of WhatsApp.

You will be automatically added to a few group chats, but you can join more by tapping “See All” and then the group you want to join (see the full list of groups). Some groups can get a lot of activity, but you can mute them; see below for details.

Our groups

  • Announcements: Where admins post information about future events and all other important announcements, so please don’t mute this channel! Only admins can post here.
  • CWC 🥃 Main Chat: The main chat for all community and whisky-related discussions.
  • CWC 🥃 Split: A place to announce and join at-cost bottle splits. The hope is that members can keep notifications switched on for this group, so please keep discussions on-point and to a minimum — best to take broader discussions back to Main Chat.
  • CWC 🥃 Auction Chats: A place to chat, plot and collude about anything to do with whisky auctions and bids.
  • CWC 🥃 Ballot Alerts: A place to announce any ballots you’ve found. The hope is that members can keep notifications switched on for this group, so please keep discussions on-point and to a minimum — best to take broader discussions back to Main Chat.
  • CWC 🥃 Bargain Alerts: A place to announce any bargains you’ve found, online or in stores. The hope is that members can keep notifications switched on for this group, so please keep discussions on-point and to a minimum — best to take broader discussions back to Main Chat.
  • CWC 🥃 Meet Now For Drinks: A place to spontaneously tell people where you are headed and ask if they fancy meeting up for a drink.
  • CWC 🥃 Sports Chat: A place for whisky fans to talk about sports and sporting events. Play nice, rule one, etc.

Too many notifications?

Some of our channels can get quite active, but if you want to be part of the conversation without being notified of every new message, you can mute the channel:

  1. Open the group you want to mute.
  2. Tap on the title of the group (at the top).
  3. Scroll down to the “Mute” option.
  4. Choose whether you want to mute the group for a fixed time or always.

Other participants will not see that you muted the group chat, and you will still be notified if you are mentioned or somebody replies to one of your messages.
